There are different types of temporary disability benefits provided to Russian citizens. Let's take a closer look at who and in what cases such payments are due.

Types of temporary disability benefits

1. Sick leave (employee's sick leave)
It is paid to an employee who has temporarily lost his ability to work due to illness or injury. The amount of the benefit depends on the length of service and the average salary for the previous two calendar years.

2. Pregnancy and childbirth

Women are provided with benefits in connection with pregnancy and childbirth. It is paid by the employer or the Social Fund of Russia (formerly the FSS) and is calculated based on the average earnings of a woman over the previous two years.

3. Caring for a child up to the age of three

Working parents are entitled to a child care allowance, which is paid monthly until the child reaches the age of three. The amount of the allowance is set by the State and indexed annually.

4. Disability

Citizens with disabilities are entitled to monthly social benefits. Its size is determined by the degree of disability and marital status of the citizen.

Who is eligible for benefits?

Citizens who are officially employed and registered with the Social Fund of Russia are eligible for temporary disability benefits. However, some groups of citizens may receive benefits even in the absence of official employment, for example:
Pensioners;
Full-time students;
Unemployed people who are registered with the employment service.

In addition, certain categories of citizens can expect additional compensation and additional payments, for example, military personnel affected by radiation exposure, combat veterans, etc.
It is important to note that in order to receive any type of benefit, it is necessary to submit the relevant documents in a timely manner, including sick leave, income certificates and medical reports.
